Lewis Research, Inc, is a tribological testing facility and test equipment manufacturer. Our laboratory currently uses dozens of test stations including: thrust bearing, pin-on-washer, block-on-ring, bushing, reciprocating bar, high velocity sand abrasion, and gear. We routinely adapt our equipment - or add new equipment - to simulate field conditions involving lubrication, atmosphere, temperature, tribo-chemical, and others. We conduct hundreds of individual tests with tens of thousands of machine hours a year. Our success lies in the observation and analysis of over 4 million hours of testing tests. We have over 42 years of experience in the design and development of wear and friction test equipment. Our top selling machine, the LRI-1a, is the latest improvement on the first widely-used thrust bearing testing test machine - conforming to ASTM D-3702 - which we designed over thirty years ago. The computer controlled/monitored LRI-1a tribometer with real-time wear, friction, temperature, and optional acoustic emission monitoring can be used to provide more comprehensive tribological data faster and with reduced labor. Our latest machine - the P-Gear - jointly developed with Hoechst-Celanese, provides state-of-the-art computer controlled/monitored life testing of dry and lubricated plastic gears up to 5 hp. In addition, we can work with you to design and build test equipment to meet your specific requirements. We fully support the equipment we sell with in-house software expertise and a complete stock of spare parts for immediate delivery.
