The Delaware Health and Social Services department, also known as DHSS, is governed by the State of Delaware. It specializes in the promotion of health and well-being of people. The department operates through Substance Abuse and Mental Health, Visually Impaired Social Services and Public Health divisions. It manages the Delaware Division of Developmental Disabilities Services, which provides services to adults and children with mental retardation and developmental disabilities. DHSS offers substance abuse evaluation, mental health care, employment assistance, crisis intervention and child support services. It also accepts Medicaid heal care plans. The department additionally provides birth, death and marriage certificates.
