Elwyn, formerly called Elwyn Institute is a nonprofit human services organization for people with special challenges. Elwyn began in 1852 as a school for children with mental retardation located on a 400-acre rural site outside of Media, Pa. Since that time, Elwyn has grown to a multi-site human services organization serving children and adults with all types of challenges, including developmental, physical and emotional disabilities as well as those with disadvantages. Programs are no longer offered only at central campuses, but have expanded to local schools, community sites, workplaces and individual homes.
