Founded in 1953, Delaware Guidance Services is the United Way of Delaware agency that provides mental health care services for children, youths and their families. Its services include psychological and psychiatric evaluation, individual, group and family counseling, parenting education, family and school liaison work and medication. The agency focuses on various areas, such as behavioral problems, family conflicts, divorce-related issues, school troubles, domestic violence and substance abuse. It contracts with various school districts throughout Delaware to provide guidance and mental health care services. Delaware Guidance Services operates several clinics and employs a team of child psychiatrists and psychologists, clinical social workers and advanced nurse practitioners.
