Founded in 1944, Delaware Farm Bureau is a voluntary, nonprofit and nongovernmental organization. It consists of approximately 4,300 farm families and associate members that is over six million in number. The organization helps preserve agriculture as an industry by serving the agricultural community. It defends agriculture against unreasonable tax regulations, threats to property rights and damaging misconceptions about farming. In addition, it advocates for renewable energy sources, solar, net metering and reclaimable irrigation, and supports environmental friendly initiatives. Delaware Farm Bureau makes available membership facilities for associations, such as Nationwide Insurance, The Dental Network, Farm Bureau Bank, etc.
