Delaware Guidance Services was established in 1953 as the Wilmington Child Guidance Center. The organization is accredited by The Joint Commission. It provides mental health services for children, youths and families. It offers comprehensive outpatient mental health services with a multidisciplinary treatment approach. Located in Dover, Del., the organization supports an outpatient program that includes individual, family, couple and group therapies, as well as psychiatric evaluations and medication management. It also supports the Intensive Outpatient Program, which is a statewide community-based therapy program for children and their families. The program is funded by the Department of Child Mental Health. Delaware Guidance Services has school-based counselors to supplement the guidance and mental health services being provided to students by various districts.
