The Department of Correction is administered by the government of the State of Connecticut. Founded in 1968, it offers a range of safety solutions to the citizen and visitors of the state. The department administers educational and vocational training programs. It provides substance abuse treatment, parenting, anger management, domestic violence consultation and health education services. The Department of Correction also offers sex offender treatment and religious solutions. Its Action Drama Program is an inmate outreach program. The department promotes the development of faith-based community initiatives for organizing and supporting services for children of inmates through its Amachi-Family Friends Program. It additionally conducts rational behavior therapy and transition library programs
