Universal Health Care Foundation of Connecticut is an independent, nonprofit grant-making organization dedicated to achieving a quality health care system that is affordable and available for everyone in the state. The Foundation believes that health care is a fundamental right. It views its work as part of a larger vision of social and economic justice for all. The Foundation's assets total over $50 million. To help accomplish its mission, the Foundation has awarded over $7 million in grants since 2004. In 2007, the Foundation awarded more than $2 million for initiatives such as community organizing on health care at the local and regional levels throughout Connecticut. The Connecticut Health Advancement and Research Trust ( CHART ) is the parent organization of the Foundation.
