The Union City Little League--one of two Little League programs in Naugatuck--serves families east of the Naugatuck River. The league operates baseball and softball teams for boys ages 5 (before April 1) to 12 (before April 30) and softball for girls up to age 16.
There are no tryouts. All Naugatuck children who meets the age and residencey requirements will play on a team, and evaluations will subsequently be held to make sure skilled players who are eligible to move up to a higher division receive that chance.
The League is broken down into eight levels: Rookie League (ages 5 and 6); A Division (ages 6 and 7 ); AA Division (age 8); AAA Division (ages 9-12); Major Division (ages 10-12); Junior, Majors and Minors Girls Softball.
The season begins April 25 and ends mid-June. All-star teams play from the season's end through the beginning of August.
Schedules, directions to fields, game updates, news and fundraising information are provided on the Union City Little League's website.
