The Stratford School for Aviation Maintenance Technicians (SSAMT) is a member of the Connecticut Technical High School System. Located on the passenger side of Sikorsky Memorial Airport, the school offers instruction and training in the field of aviation maintenance.
The program lasts for 20 months (approximately 2,400 hours), consisting of practical hands-on instruction. Upon completion, the student will be able to develop operative skills in accordance with the licensing requirements of the Federal Aviation Administration. Upon completion of the General, Airframe and Power Plant curriculums, the student will be a certified Aviation Maintenance Technician (AMT) able to take the FAA examinations. A high school diploma or GED equivalent is required for enrollment, and applications are available by phone request or online. Language, mathematical and mechanical aptitude is essential for success in the program. Testing and tours are offered once per month; contact Stratford School directly for details on specific dates.
SSAMT is accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges and is associated with Gateway Community College in New Haven as well as Housatonic Community College in Bridgeport. Grants and waivers are available, but the school is not a part of the Federal Student Loans program.
