The Conservation Department works to protect, preserve and improve the town's natural resources. Alicia Mozian is the director of the department, which administers the following town ordinances and regulations: Wetlands and Watercourses Regulations Waterway Protection Line Ordinance - WPLO Aquifer Protection Regulations Tree Spraying Ordinance Cockenoe Island Regulations The department is the staff to the following commissions and committees: Conservation Commission Shellfish Commission Sherwood Mill Pond Committee The Saugatuck River Watershed Partnership Sasco Brook Pollution Abatement CommitteeThe Department also issues camping permits for Cockenoe Island and oversees its management. It provides comments to other agencies and departments in review of land use applications.
