The Record Journal is Meriden's longstanding daily newspaper, founded in 1867. It covers the news, sports, and features of Meriden, Wallingford, Southington and Cheshire. The Record Journal has a newsroom of 33 people and boasts a readership of more than 50,ooo, along with more than 110,000 unique visitors to its website, launched in 2007. Owned by the White family in Meriden for generations, Eliot C. White is the current publisher. The company also produces five area weekly newspapers (The Berlin Citizen, The Plainville Citizen, The Southington Citizen, the North Haven Citizen and Town Times) and a daily newspaper in Rhode Island called the Westerly Sun.
