Since moving from its original 300-square-foot space in Old Avon Village, husband and wife Tony and Kathy Taverna have been enjoying their more spacious accommodations on West Main St/CT-44, and have now opened a second branch of their store in Brookfield. Both longtime Farmington Valley residents, as well as accomplished tennis players, Tony is a certified USPTA level 1 instructor and USRSA Master Racquet Technician, while Kathy coordinates apparel and management of the store. The shop stocks a wide range of equipment and apparel for all racquet sports, including tennis, squash, racquetball, platform tennis, and badminton. The owners offer several services, such as custom shoe fittings, which includes three different foot measurements and an evaluation of each customer's specific foot mechanics. It also repairs damaged racquets, and provides custom stringing and gripping services. Perfect Racquet also creates custom tennis uniforms for many high schools and colleges. The shop features a customer rewards program, which gives back $20 in store credit or gift cards for every $500 spent. Tony and Kathy also support a shoe recycling program, where customers can return their used tennis shoes within nine months of purchase and receive 10 percent off their next purchase. Outside of the shop, the owners also operate the Connecticut Tennis Academy, which provides lessons to children and young adults of all ages and skill levels. The Tennis Academy is at Avon Old Farms.
