Pemberwick Xchange Deli got its start over 80 years ago. The grandparents of current owner Steve Pugliese opened a neighborhood grocery store in the 1920s. In the 1950s, Steve's father built the current building next door to the original grocery store and opened a soda fountain shop. When his grandparents retired, the family combined the two shops and eventually turned it into a deli.
Today, "The Xchange" provides the local community with hot deli sandwiches and daily specials. It is still a family business, with Steve, his wife and three daughters all helping out, and despite the changing times, the store has managed to hold on to its tight-knit, community vibe. On Saturdays, Pemberwick Xchange Deli becomes quite the gathering place.
