Established in 1985, Shelter for the Homeless is one of the leading social services and human development agencies in lower Fairfield County. Located in Stamford, Conn., the agency serves and advocates for the homeless in the area and providing temporary housing to homeless men. It provides overnight emergency beds for men and a drop-in day program for men and women. The community service organization offers a variety of programs for the homeless in categories, such as day and night, recover, employment and housing programs. Some of the human service agency's day programs include independent living skills, drug/HIV education and prevention, mental health, outreach and club house.
