The Newtown United Methodist Church has operated in the community for nearly 200 years. It is part of the Connecticut Central District of the United Methodist Church. The Newtown church offers Sunday worship service and adult Bible study. Adjacent to the church and sharing the same parking lot is the Wesley Learning Center, which offers a non-sectarian curriculum program for 3- and 4-year-old children as well as pre-kindergarten and kindergarten programs for 4- and 5-year-olds. Some extended day programs also are available.
