Owner Jan Newman, a lifelong Newtown resident, started Newtown Bait & Tackle over five years ago. The store is a fisherman's dream. The walls are filled with gear and tackle for salt-water, fresh-water, and fly fishing. In addition to fishing-themed gifts and clothing, the store sells live bait. Fly-fishing classes, rod repair and custom-built rods are also available.
