One full-time and two part-time Animal Control officers respond to calls regarding dog bites, bats flying indoors, battles between dogs and wild life, roaming dogs, and rabies risks.
Animal Control also keeps track of bears and coyotes that occasionally wander through town. If you see a coyote add a report to the sightings map at http://patch.com/gAMG and be sure to call it in to 203-594-3510.
Stray dogs will be taken in and put up for adoption after seven days. Lost and found cats are only logged.
Once a year, Animal Control joins Strays and Others in sponsoring a low-cost rabies vaccination and spaying and neutering clinic.
Animal Control is part of the Police Department.
