The authority's mission is to provide decent, safe and affordable housing for seniors, people with disabilities, and moderate- and low-income individuals and families living in Middletown. Using state and federal housing funds, the authority built and manages eight housing complexes--approximately 500 units--ranging from Sbona Tower, a 12-story high rise one block from Main Street in downtown (where the authority's office are located), to one-story, garden-style apartments on Randolph Road. It also administers the federal Section 8 housing program, which provides rental assistance, so that low-income families can rent apartments in the private market.
