History
Merwin's Art Shop was founded in 1934 by Fred Merwin, at 286 York Street in New Haven, CT. He and his brother Fred ran it together until 1963, whereupon they sold it to Robert O. Muller. Better known as Bob, he was an avid Japanese woodblock print collector. Bob handed the shop over to his son, Robert L. Muller, in 1985, and it is now managed by Rob's daughter. In addition to custom framing, the shop has always specialized in prints of Yale and New Haven, and still has many of the Japanese woodblock prints collected by Bob years ago. In September 2003, Merwin's moved a few blocks from it's York St. location to it's current spot at 1052 Chapel St.
