The Meriden Superior Court handles civil, criminal and family court matters for New Haven County's General Area 7 (GA-7), which includes Meriden, Cheshire, Hamden, North Haven and Wallingford. Judges hear a variety of issues, including custody, divorce, small claims, housing and criminal motor vehicle cases. Inside the three-floor courthouse, located next to the Police station in downtown Meriden, are four courtrooms, two hearing rooms and a jury assembly room, along with offices for family services, the bail commission, public defenders, GA clerks, JD clerks, State's Attorney, court reporters, community service coordinators, a court service center, interpreters, victims advocates, caseflow coordinators and a judges' secretary.
