Founded in 1896, the Manchester Police Department is governed by the town of Manchester in Connecticut, which houses a population of more than 52,000. The department works to provide law enforcement services and protect the lives and properties of the city s residents. It is comprised of K-9, motor and animal control units. The Manchester Police Department also manages an investigative services division that handles cases related to domestic violence, juveniles and narcotics. The department supports Drug Abuse Resistance Education and neighborhood crime watch programs. In addition, it operates patrol, communications and records divisions.
