The Killingworth Library Association originally started in 1964, when 20 residents voted to form an adult lending library. Over the years, the library moved its space from the elementary school, to the town office building and then to an old schoolhouse. In 1995, the library opened in its new location, a beautiful open-beam construction featuring a reading garden, young adult and children's sections, and a full audiovisual collection. The Killingworth Library raises one-third of its operating budget every year and relies on the dedication of an active group of volunteers.
