History
Professional Opticians was opened in 1954 by Raymond Turrell jr on Meridian street in downtown New London. Later the practice was moved to the New London shopping center in 1977 where is stayed until 1999, finding a new home in Waterford at the plaza on Clark Lane. Finally, in 2009, we relocated to the beautiful new office where we now are located, in an adjacent building in the same plaza on Clark Lane in Waterford. In 2012 Professional Opticians was sold to Dr. Mary Beaulieu and is now called Professional Eyecare. Stop by the new office and see our beautiful additions!
Specialties
Dr. Sanborn was born and raised in New Hampshire. He received his bachelor's degree from Roger Williams University in Rhode Island, and later received his doctorate in optometry from the New England College of Optometry in Boston. Following graduation, he was received into a residency program in advanced ocular disease at the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Manchester, NH. Dr. Sanborn is a fellow of the American Academy of Optometry and has presented research posters at annual meetings and lectured at a state organization meeting. His areas of specialty include ocular disease, contact lens fitting, dry eye management, and providing low vision services for those individuals with reduced vision. Dr. Sanborn moved to Connecticut in 2013 with his wife, Dr. Meghan Lamoureux. Since then, they have enjoyed exploring the seacoast and hiking. His hobbies include playing guitar and piano, as well as more adventurous activities such as skiing, mountain biking, surfing and paragliding. Professional Eyecare is committed to providing patients with state-of-the-art comprehensive eye examinations. With an emphasis on utilizing the latest technologies, Professional Eyecare offers many advanced services including providing optimal visual acuity, diagnosing and treating eye diseases, and fitting custom contact lenses.
