The Institute for Life Coping Skills is a not-for-profit organization that teaches disadvantaged adults and youth the psychological and social skills they need to navigate their personal and professional lives. Those that participate in the program learn how to deal with the problems they experience at work as well as in their marital and family relationships. The Institute uses video, the Internet and other multimedia programs to assist their clients. Founded in 1974 by Winthrop R. Adkins, Ph.D., the Institute of Life Coping Skills also trains teachers, counselors and organizations how to use its programs to enhance their own professional services.
