Harriet Beecher Stowe was a 19th century abolitionist and author, most famous for penning "Uncle Tom's Cabin" in 1852. The school named in her honor is helmed by principal Robert Fenton. In the fall of 2010, the Enfield Board of Education voted to close Stowe at the end of the 2010-2011 school year as part of an elementary school reorganization, but no definite plans have been set forth.
