Greater Hartford Police Federal Credit Union is a diverse organization that provides financial services to law enforcement professionals and their extended families. The credit union will provide financial products and services in a professional, friendly and convenient atmosphere. Member satisfaction will be the measure of our success. We are "People helping People." The credit union is a cooperative established by the Federal Credit Union Act of 1934. Our charter was granted in March 1950 under the name of Hartford Police Federal Credit Union. The precepts set forth at that time are still in effect today. We are "People Helping People". The credit union is owned and controlled by you. As a member, you own a "share" in the credit union. Just like a share of stock you have a say in the operations of the credit union and earn dividends on that share. For over 50 years Greater Hartford Police Federal Credit Union has been servicing the financial needs of officers and civilian workers within the Hartford Police Department. Governed by a Board of Directors and overseen by a Supervisory Committee, the staff seeks to implement the policies and services approved. In June 2006 the Board of Directors received approval from the National Credit Union Administration to expand our charter to include various members of law enforcement in Greater Hartford County. By having the foresight to include these under-served potential members we can ensure our existence for many years and enhance our many services. Subsequently, our name was changed to more accurately reflect who we service. We are now known as Greater Hartford Police Federal Credit Union.
