Anyone new to the region can find information about all things Farmington Valley at the Farmington Valley Visitor's Association (FVVA). The non-profit organization was founded in 1994 to promote tourism in the region, according to the FVVA website. The tourism office was opened in 1998. Located in Old Avon Village, off of Route 44, the FVVA offers information on Farmington Valley history, tourism, local hotels, shopping, outdoor activities, arts centers, the Farmington Valley Film Commission and more. Brochures are available in a box outside of the office. As of 2010, there are currently 200 members that are a part of the association.
