The Enfield Correctional Institution, formerly known as the Osborn Prison Farm, was completed in 1960. The institution serves as a level 3, medium-security facility for sentenced offenders and focuses on programming initiatives geared toward substance abuse, education and vocational instruction. The Enfield Correctional Institution has a population of more than 800 individuals. The institution has a staff of over 220 employees. The Enfield Correctional Institution is a part of the Connecticut Department of Correction, which provides substance abuse treatment, parenting, anger management, domestic violence counseling, health education, sex offender treatment, religious, educational and vocational training services. The department is a part of the government of the State of Connecticut.
