Andrew P. Swan, MD is an ophthalmologist specializing in cataract and lens implant surgery as well as comprehensive eye care. He joined the Eye Center in 2006. He is a clinical instructor for the Yale University School of Medicine in the Department of Ophthalmology. Dr. Swan received his BA in English at Cornell University before completing his MD at the State University of New York at Buffalo, where he graduated cum laude. His internship was spent at the Hospital of St. Raphael in New Haven, CT, and he completed his residency in ophthalmology at the Yale Eye Center, Yale University School of Medicine, where he served as Chief Resident during his final year. Dr. Swan is a member of numerous academic honor societies, including Alpha Omega Alpha and Phi Beta Kappa. He was given the 2006 Marvin L. Sears Award for Clinical Excellence while at Yale, and was named Transitional Intern of the Year during his time at the Hospital of St. Raphael. At Buffalo School of Medicine, he received the Maimonides Medical Society Award for most outstanding academic performance in addition to the Stephen J. Paolini Award for dedication and compassion in patient care. Dr. Swan has an abiding love for travel, having lived in both Spain and Venezuela and becoming highly proficient in Spanish.
