Established in 1904, Congregation Adath Israel calls itself a progressive conservative synagogue. It is Middletown's only temple, with roughly 250 member families drawn from the city and surrounding towns.
There are services for Erev Shabbat at 7pm Fridays; Shabbat services begin at 9:30am. The temple also holds daily morning Minyan services Mon - Fri at 8am and on Sundays at 9am.
Youth-oriented services are held monthly, one for children up to grade 2, the other for children grades 3 through 7. There are also service committees and interest groups, including Hadassah, a book club and Synagogal Singers.
