World Footbag Association ( WFA ) was founded in May 1983 as the sport's promotional arm and official players' organization. Since then, our mission has expanded to embrace goals of a more universal nature, promoting health, self-esteem, sharing, communication, and cooperation through the sport of footbag. Our international membership of 64, 000 currently spans 45 countries and is growing at a rate of nearly 500 new members each month. Responsible for hundreds of promotions each year, the WFA's efforts include tournaments, training camps, festivals, player workshops, and performances of every magnitude. In fact, our touring professionals routinely travel the world staging dynamic school assembly shows and conducting hands-on clinics for students of all ages, introducing footbag to audiences totaling up to 300, 000 each year. On an even broader promotional scale, the WFA facilitates mainstream coverage of the sport by media titles such as MTV, ESPN, ESPN 2, Prime Sports, Good Morning America, Sports Illustrated, Newsweek, People, The Wall Street Journal, USA Today, National Geographic, The New Yorker, and Cosmopolitan to name a few.
