For more than 100 years, the company has been part of the mapping industry. Founded in 1866, Sanborn first gained recognition for its detailed fire insurance maps, which are still widely used today. The company has mapped approximately 12,000 communities throughout the United States and has archived nearly 1 million maps. Sanborn employs hundreds of employees at numerous locations in the U.S. and abroad. It is part of the DMG Information group of companies, which is owned by the United Kingdom-based Daily Mail and General Trust.
