The Office of Emergency Management provides leadership, planning, education and resources to protect lives, property and environment at the time of disasters in Delta County, Colo. It works with various county departments, local governments, volunteer organizations and private associations to develop disaster preparedness plans and provide training and exercise activities. The Office of Emergency Management operates a communication center that responds to emergency and nonemergency calls related to police officers, deputy sheriffs, fire trucks, rescue squads or ambulances. The office also handles issues related to homeland security that include weather spotting, hazard mitigation, and ground searches and rescue. The Office of Emergency Management is located in Delta, Colo.
