St. Mary s Hospital and Regional Medical Center, located in Grand Junction, Colo., provides health care services to the residents of western Colorado and eastern Utah. It is a nonprofit organization that was founded in 1896 by the Sisters of Charity of Leavenworth. The hospital is one of the largest medical centers between Denver and Salt Lake City, and has more than 350 beds. It has a staff of more than 2,000 and over 300 active physicians, representing nearly 40 specialties. The hospital s facilities, programs and services comprise cancer care, heart and vascular services, women and children s services, orthopedic services, blood donor center, dialysis center, emergency and trauma services, employee assistance program, family medicine center, imaging services, laboratory services, neurodiagnostics, and occupational medicine. Other services include psychiatric services, St. Mary's life center, Saccomanno Research Institute, sleep laboratory, surgical services, respiratory care, and therapy and rehabilitation services.
