History
PlatteForum is an award-winning community arts center, artist-in-residence and youth-development program that matches underserved youth with master artists in intensive, structured, and long-term creative learning environments. Our work is grounded in a belief that the creative process nurtures discovery, self-expression, development and growth, and each program is built upon the interconnection of the creative process and three vital elements: youth, artists, and community. Through PlatteForum's programs that engage, educate, and enrich both youth and adults in our community, artists take their work to the next level, youth gain a sense of pride by learning what they can accomplish, and community grows richer from the expansion of the arts and contribution of youth as they build productive lives. PlatteForum is the proud recipient of the 2011 National Arts and Humanities Youth Program Award and the 2006 Mayor's Award for Excellence in the Arts
