The Ouray County Historical Museum is housed in the original Ouray Miner's Hospital built in 1887. The Museum's more than 40 exhibits and 30 rooms include: World -class Mineral Collection, Simulated underground mine, Mining-era hospital suite and operating room, Ranch History room, Vintage quilts, Military/Veteran's Room, Native American Room, Narrow Gauge railroad history, Special rotating Exhibits.

The Colorado Historical Foundation, established in 1965, is dedicated to preserving and sharing the history of Colorado's diverse people and places.
