Yampa Valley Electric Association is a consumer-owned cooperative serving northwest Colorado and a portion of Carbon County, Wyo. This coverage area includes the communities of Steamboat Springs, Craig, Hayden and Yampa, Colo., and Baggs, Wyo. The co-op is a member of the Touchstone Energy Cooperative. Touchstone Energy is a national alliance of local, consumer-owned electric cooperatives. The association serves nearly 25,000 meters over more than 2,700 miles of line. YVEA employs nearly 65 people in four departments that include operations and engineering, finance, member services and consumer accounts and general staff/human resources. It has an electric demand of more than 115 megawatts. The headquarters for Yampa Valley Electric Association is located in Steamboat Springs, Colo., with a branch office in Craig, Colo.
