About Dr. Kruger As a teenager, Matthew Kruger, MD, felt a strong desire to help people through his love of science and realized he wanted to pursue a career in medicine. Today, as a board-certified ophthalmologist in Denver, Colorado, Dr. Kruger puts his passions into practice as he specializes in cataract surgery and laser vision correction. Dr. Kruger provides the latest technologies and advanced corneal transplant procedures to patients of all ages at his family-friendly, patient-centered practice. Dr. Kruger's excitement for the field of ophthalmology began in 2000, after he graduated from Dartmouth College in Hanover, New Hampshire, and spent a year volunteering at a hospital in West Africa. There he witnessed cataract surgeries for the first time and saw how remarkably it improved patients' lives in a short period of time. He knew then that he wanted to pursue a career in vision and eye health. After returning from West Africa, Dr. Kruger spent two years performing research in the Department of Physiology at Tufts University School of Medicine in Boston, before beginning his medical training there. He completed his ophthalmology education and training at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas -- the largest ophthalmology program in the United States.
