History
Over the years, the YMCA role has expanded and evolved to fit the needs of its communities: From language and lodging to recreation, education and athletics. Throughout its history, the Y has continued to respond to local and international needs, reflecting the time, population and culture. In an effort to save lives, the YMCA revolutionized how people learned to swim. Many YMCAs became meeting places and rallying points for the Civil Rights movement. As an organization that's been around since 1874, the YMCA of Boulder Valley has stayed relevant by tackling the needs of our neighbors. Simply put, we strengthen the foundations of community.
