Karl Womer, MD, is committed to using the best available medical science to treat patients with respect, care and compassion. He is passionate about helping his patients live a long, happy, healthy and productive life.Dr. Womer received his medical degree from the University of Alabama. He went on to complete his internal medicine residency at Barnes-Jewish Hospital at Washington University and nephrology fellowship at Brigham and Women's Hospital at Harvard Medical School. Dr. Womer is board-certified in nephrology and is a member of the American Society of Transplantation and the Transplantation Society. He has extensive research and publication experience in immunology and transplantation. His clinical interests include kidney and pancreas transplantation, BK virus nephropathy, CMV infection and live kidney donation.Prior to joining Centura Health, Dr. Womer served as professor of medicine in the division of nephrology at the University of Florida College of Medicine and Eminent Scholar and Program Director of Renal Transplantation at UF Health Shands Transplant Center in Gainesville, Florida.When hes not treating patients, Dr. Womer enjoys golfing, traveling to college football games and spending time with his family.
