History
After constructing five homes in the first seven years of operation, Habitat RFV needed a way to increase capacity without continually relying on the community for monetary donations or promoting additional special events in an already saturated nonprofit market. We decided to experiment with the ReStore model that other Habitat affiliates had found to be so successful in other areas of the country. To become more self-sufficient financially, we opened a 2,000-sq.-ft. ReStore in 2007. Our ReStore operation has far exceeded our expectations. While we started slowly, building one home every two years, we now build three to four homes annually.
Specialties
Habitat for Humanity RFV's ReStore is a discount, retail outlet that offers quality second hand and designer furniture, fixtures, cabinetry, high-end used appliances, house construction materials, and more at a fraction of the original price. Not only does every purchase go toward the Habitat mission: to build simple, affordable homes in partnership with local, low-income families in need of a hand-up, not a hand-out, but you help us spare thousands of lbs of waste from our landfills. To date, we've spared 2,896,901 lbs from the landfill.
