History
Purchased by Richard and Jean Tally on June 17, 2021, GRV will continue to produce the iconic Bordeaux and Rhone reds and dry whites that have garnered medals over the decades. Thanks to the considerable skills of our European trained and certified winemaker Rainer Thoma, old recipes may be tweaked and a few new vines may be added to the mix. So, buckle up! Great things are on the horizon for this iconic brand. Founded in 1987 when wine industry pioneer Stephen Smith, planted his first vines, Grande River Vineyards fermented its first wine in 1990. Until 2006, it was the largest grape producer in the state. More recently, the winery has produced 5,000 cases of wine per year. Over the decades, GRV has chalked up a rich history as Colorado's premier estate-grown wine producer. From its location at the base of the state's western Little Bookcliffs mountain range near the Colorado River, GRV is poised for new growth and innovation.
