Dan Bowdey is a Certified FocalPoint Business Coach & Trainer and a Certified Exit Planning Advisor with the Exit Planning Institute. He is a Business Transition Specialist who works with Small to Medium size business owners to help them through the various transitions throughout the life cycle of their business. He asks good probing questions about their business and personal goals such that their answers bring him into their view of the current state as well as the opportunities he can help them seize and the constraints he can help them remove to achieve their future vision. In his years as a Certified FocalPoint Business Coach, Dan has helped a manufacturing company turnaround by pivoting from trying to compete on low-margin high-volume runs to providing quick-turnaround higher-margin prototype runs instead. He has helped merge two business video companies to become a training film company with higher margins and larger clients. Dan also helped a dental practice lay the groundwork of a 7-year exit plan. After one year they had eliminated all debt, created a dashboard of key performance metrics, and leased adjacent floor space to expand from 3 to 6 chairs. This positioned the owner to sell a transferable business after one year due to an unexpected health challenge. Prior to joining FocalPoint, Dan was an Industrial Engineer at Eastman Kodak and then Owner and VP of Operations at Boulder Steel Inc. and Leed Fabrication Services, Inc., both steel fabrication and field installation companies. Dan grew Boulder Steel, Inc. from $3.5-million to $23-million over 15 years and sold to an inside buyer and Leed Fabrication Services from $11-million to $33-million in just 3 years which sold to a private equity group. He now teaches his clients to be change agents who implement his value acceleration methodology to have a business that is transferable at optimal value. A graduate of the University of Colorado Boulder, Dan is an Eagle Scout, triathlete, hiker, gardener, an elder of his church, and a CU Buffs sports fan. But most importantly, he is happily married to Sara who has blessed him with two sons and two daughters who in turn have blessed them with 8 grandchildren ages 1 to 11.
