History
Our Family has strong ties to the car business in Montrose..... Our great grandfather, Sid Hartman, started Hartman Brothers with his brother Joe Hartman in 1904. The two entrepreneurs dabbled in many ventures early on before focusing on the automotive business. They started with Ford in 1908 and became the first Ford franchise in Western Colorado. In 1925 they severed their relationship with Ford and added Dodge Brothers. They continued with Dodge, Chrysler and Plymouth as their main lines in the automotive field. Montrose Equipment was purchased in June of 1968 by L.F. Flower. He then sold the business to his son, Fred L. Flower and his wife Noreen shortly afterwards Fred is the grandson of Sid Hartman and grew up around the car business. In 1974 the Subaru franchise was added making our dealership the oldest Subaru dealership in Colorado! In 1984, Flower Motor Comp. purchased the Dodge, Chrysler and Plymouth lines.
