From a backyard in Grand Junction to a thriving Western Colorado legacy, Elam Construction has grown and succeeded. Elam has offices in Grand Junction, Aspen, Edwards/Vail, Steamboat Springs, Fraser, Montrose, Farmington, Durango and Craig, Colo. Elam boasts seven asphalt plants, four crushing spreads, 18 gravel pits, more than 200 employees and more than 600 pieces of equipment. In 1956, Robert and Mildred Elam made a place for themselves in a tough business against big competition. Today, their family members still operate the family business. Some of Elam Construction's recent paving jobs include I-70 through the Vail Valley, sections of Hwy 50 from Grand Junction to Montrose, U.S. Hwy 40 over Berthoud Pass and many tennis courts, parking lots and driveways.
