History
Colorado Alpines was originally stationed on rental land in Eagle-Vail, Colorado, where the business focused on growing and landscaping with native plants, especially alpines. Colorado Alpines mail-ordered alpines from 1983 to 1994, and as alpine plants became more readily available, the business began focusing on landscape and design services, as well as on a complete retail garden center operation. In 1998, Colorado Alpines relocated to Edwards, Colorado, where the garden center became known as Wildflower Farm. A new retail garden center building was completed in 2001 after a full year of construction, giving Colorado Alpines & Wildflower Farm the opportunity to permanently house an expanded quality selection of plants, hardware, gifts, art and more. While Wildflower Farm is the name associated with the farmhouse gift shop and garden center, Colorado Alpines remains the landscape design component of Colorado Alpines & Wildflower Farm.
