The Aurora Fire Department works to offer a range of ire suppression and emergency medical services. The department receives more than 800 fire-related calls annually that include structure, brush and vehicle fires. It works with a team of over 300 staff members and maintains nearly 15 stations. The Aurora Fire Department manages the Rocky Mountain Fire Academy, which offers training services for firefighters. Its Hazardous Materials Response Team works to protects citizens and occupants against the hazards of accidental and the illegal release of nuclear, biological and chemical hazardous substance. The department administers the Station Captain Program. The Aurora Fire Department is governed by the City of Aurora in Colorado.
