History
Founded in 1972 by a group of local artists, Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art (BMoCA) has established itself as one of Colorado's premier contemporary art venues. The museum has featured over 250 visual arts exhibitions since its founding. Originally called the Boulder Arts Center, the museum was first located in a small Victorian house. In 1976 the organization moved to its current location in downtown Boulder, a 1906 historic landmark building. Throughout its history, BMoCA has been a cultural cornerstone within its community. Each year, the museum presents an ambitious exhibition schedule and an innovative series of education programs and outreach initiatives for all audiences. As an event space, BMoCA provides a creative and inspiring setting for any special event. Located in the heart of downtown Boulder, BMoCA's historic building features dynamic rotating exhibitions, exposed brick walls, hardwood floors, and large windows that showcase Central Park and the Flatirons.
