History
The property for the chalets was purchased in the lates1940's by Maurice and Mildred Bauer, who had owned lodging in Aurora, Colorado. It took them two years to prepare their Evergreen, CO property and to build the first lodging building. while they lived in the original cabin on the property. That cabin is now the Willows cottage. The first building was a duplex with two one-bedroom units. The following years Mr. Bauer built the Ponderosa and Blue Spruce Chalets. They then purchased the Kinnikinnik property, which is now the manager's unit and office. In the 1970's The Bauer's sold the property to their daughter Maureen and her husband Paul Harrison, who operated the chalets until 1995. At that time the current owners, The Retterer family, purchased the property. During the 16 years the Retterers have owned and operated the inn, they have made some improvements including the large play structure, two studios. and a remodel of the interior of the original Willows cottage.
